Florence Steel

About

Florence Steel explores relationship to place and the transcendental amidst an age of social, environmental, and spiritual disconnection. Their practice engages with the metaphysical, pushing the boundaries of representation through oil painting and multi-media installation. Deeply inspired by astronomy, time, and the divine mystery, their work resonates as poems at the intersection of art, science, and philosophy. Steel draws on applied epistemology to explore how cosmological knowledge is constructed through symbolic and material processes.

Steel is currently completing a Bachelor of Visual Arts and a Bachelor of Art History and Curatorship at ANU.
